This is a journey though one of the few remaining wild and unspoiled travel destinations: Mongolia. We set off the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek and travel across China's breathtaking north-western region and the Taklamakan Desert, along the way visiting the historic trading centre of Kashgar as well as Turpan, the second lowest depression in the world. Our route will take us through the snow-capped mountains and vast rolling steppes of Altai Tavn Bogd National Park, which has some the most stunning scenery in all Mongolia. We explore Tsambagarav NP, the Tsenhker Cave, and the town of Olgii where we can stock up with supplies at the local market. And we make our crossing of the forbidding wilderness of the Gobi Desert, where we'll see the Khongor Sand Dunes and enjoy the warm hospitality of the Mongolian people and learn about their lifestyles. Our journey concludes in the sprawling and industrialised capital city Ulaanbaatar, which is an enchanting juxtaposition to the pristine countryside we've just travelled through.
