Day 1: Welcome to Vilnius, Lithuania
Tour begins: 6:00 PM, Kempinksi Hotel Cathedral Square. A transfer is included from Vilnius Airport to the 5-star Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square, ideally located in the heart of Vilnius' Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tauck's guest rooms boast breathtaking views of Cathedral Square, offering a hint of the treasures you will see tomorrow. Join us for a welcome reception and dinner tonight at the hotel.

Day 2: Vilnius' Old Town & Trakai Castle
Experience a living museum of Baroque and Renaissance architecture on a walking tour along the cobblestone streets of Vilnius' Old Town this morning. As the oldest and largest surviving medieval town in northern Europe, Vilnius abounds with historic sites, including its magnificent Cathedral. If you wish, join us for a visit to the KGB Museum; set in the building that was headquarters of the German Gestapo during WWII, then of the Soviet Secret Police (KGB) from 1944-1991, it chronicles the repression of and resistance to the Soviet occupation of Lithuania.. Travel via back roads to medieval Trakai for a visit to its 14th-century castle en route back to your hotel.

Day 3: Travel to Riga via the "Yellow Roads"
Journey to culturally rich Latvia today, stopping for lunch in seaside Jurmala - a favorite holiday retreat for former Communist elites. Your destination is the capital city of Riga, the largest city in the Baltic States. Upon your arrival, visit the 19th-century Opera House, before exploring as you wish. Have dinner at your hotel tonight.

Day 4: Explore Latvia's medieval capital, Riga
Riga is renowned as having the most Art Nouveau buildings in Europe. See them on a guided walking tour of New Town, Riga Market and Old Town; see Riga Castle, the Swedish Gate and Three Brothers Medieval Dwelling Houses. After lunch, sightseeing continues in the former "Jewish Ghetto," with stops at the Jewish Museum and Cemetery (holidays permitting).

Day 5: On to Tallinn, capital of Estonia
Depart this morning for Estonia along the Riga - Tallinn Road. Have lunch in the resort town of Parnu en route to Tallinn. Arrive this afternoon in Estonia's capital city, Tallinn, a fine example of a Northern European trading town of the Middle Ages. This afternoon our local guide takes you on a walking tour along the cobblestone streets of the city's Lower Town, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its well-preserved medieval center. See the Town Hall square, walls and towers, notably the one affectionately dubbed "Fat Margaret," and view St. Olaf's Church, renowned as the tallest building in the world from 1549 to 1625. Dine tonight at a popular local restaurant, Gloria's.

Day 6: Toompea Castle & a ferry to Helsinki
Tour Tallinn's Upper Town this morning on a guided walk to see its cathedrals, the old Estonian Royal Palace and Toompea Castle, before taking a high-speed ferry to Helsinki, Finland's capital. City sightseeing upon your arrival includes the Neoclassical Senate Square and Helsinki Cathedral. Visit Neo-Classical Senate Square, Helsinki Cathedral, the Sibelius Monument and Finlandia Hall.

Day 7: Helsinki's National Museum, the "Rock Church" and the music of Sibelius
Your journey winds up with a full day's exploration in Helsinki. Begin the day with a guided visit to the National Museum of Finland in central Helsinki, whose collections interpret Finnish history and culture from prehistoric times to the present day. Archaeological finds, coins, jewelry, silver, weapons and other artifacts are on display in the museum's National Romantic-style building, which originally opened in 1916, and was renovated and re-opened in 2000. Next, visit Temppeliaukio (The Rock) Church, hewn from solid rock in the 1960s. Then attend a private concert featuring works by beloved Finnish composer Jean Sibelius (1865-1957), whose music helped foster Finland's national identity during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Following an afternoon spent as you wish in Helsinki, please join us this evening for a farewell reception followed by dinner at your hotel.

Day 8: Journey home
