Day 1 Arrive Rome
Sun filled days, hot summery nights, traveller you've arrived in Rome for just over two weeks of adventure, ticking off 8 countries as you do it. On arrival set your eyes upon Rome with heightened love and appreciation for the great country she's nestled in. Get a glimpse of the greats, maybe down some pizza and stroll the streets in la mode of leisure knowing you have all day tomorrow to see the sites.

Day 2 Rome
We're excited to get started in the Eternal City. With the day to explore, you could explore Pope's house and gawk at the magnitude of the St. Peter's Basilica, then there's free time to explore the ancient ruins including the Colosseum, before taking on the cute cobbled streets. Why not get your fix of Italian food for lunch, like arancini and caprese...because when in Rome! We would suggest taking to thestreets of the Trastevere tonight to rub shoulders with the locals over a glass of red and toast an awesome first full day on the trip.

Day 3 Rome to Florence
We leave a little bit of our heart in Rome, but we're not done with Italy just yet, there are two iconic cities to explore before our time in Italy is done.
The Duomo Cathedral sits above the city making certain we know we have arrived in Florence. We'll become history buffs on a guided walking tour before we learn the art of leather. Tonight you can choose to begin your Tuscan love affair at an optional dinner in the hillsides - think olives, cured meats, crostini & wine. Later, you could keep it moving back in the city, and experience Florence by night.

Day 4 Florence to Venice
Florence
Florence, you've been heavenly, but today we have the floating city on our horizons and we can't wait. Pizza, piazzas … we're coming in hot.
Venice
The floating city of gondolas, canals and pretty bridges - what a splendid way to continue our Italian love affair. A guided walking tour and a gondola ride are up for grabs, or you can always choose to get lost on your own and see where the maze takes you.

Day 5 Venice to Ljubljana
Venice we love you, but there's more to see and we're ready. Today brings us another country to tick off our bucklet list, and although the name is hard to pronounce, it packs some serious punch! Although you might find nods to neighbouring countries within Slovenian culture, a distinct identity has evolved from this melody of influences. After our guided walking tour, explore the bohemian art district of Metelkova Mesto, sit by one of the cities atmospheric watercourses & try all the incredible food on offer.

Day 6 Ljubljana to Plitvice Lakes
Next up is another day to explore, a new country to conquer, but first something altogether drop dead gorgeous....
A strong introduction to Croatia is on the cards today with cascading teal forest pools at Plitvice Lakes. Why this place is not famous world over as one of the prettiest places in Europe, we have no idea. Wander the cute wooden bridges with waterfalls either side, stopping for plenty of selfies along the route as you contemplate just how good life is and bask in the glory of mother nature.

Day 7 Plitvice to Split
We'll hit the road again for our next stop on the agenda, the harbourside city of Split.
It's time to get nautical here on the coast of Croatia and explore her sun-soaked, seafront glory. We'll start you off right with a visit to Old Town Split and Diocletian's Palace for a taste of ancient history amongst the cobbled streets. It would be downright wrong not to indulge in some local tastes tonight too, so opt for a traditional Croat dinner to fuel up on before the night ahead. Later no doubt feeling festive, you could hit the town to explore the city by night!

Day 8 Depart Split
There you have it, the astonishing beauty of Croatia and its cluster of islands. You probably always imagined you'd be blown away by it, but the new squad of life-long pals will be the real surprise. Round Two: Turkey & Greek Island Odyssey?

Why Contiki?

Started by one man with big dreams in 1962, Contiki now offers over 300 trips to 6 continents for 18 to 35 year olds, with the mantra #NOREGRETS. It’s their way of life; it’s about changing your perspective on the world, walking in other’s shoes, witnessing different cultures, religions, and ways of living; it’s about living in the moment, pushing past your comfort zone, challenging yourself to do the things you never thought possible.

Contiki believe that travel is so much more than just ticking boxes and saying you were there. It’s not about doing things for the sake of doing them, or seeing things just because you should. For them, travel is all about experience. It’s the number of sunsets you’ve watched with best friends, the number of ancient landmarks you’ve visited, the number of times you’ve defied your comfort zone and done the extraordinary. So that’s what their trips are all about – the #NOREGRETS experiences that will make you, the traveller, richer than your wildest dreams.

Their incredible experiences encompass all interests and cultures – bathing in the Blue Lagoon in Iceland, seeing the pyramids of Giza, walking the Great Wall of China, roadtrip along Route 66, watch the sunrise over Uluru, party in Las Vegas, snorkel the Great Barrier Reef, zipline through the Costa Rica rainforest, see the Mona Lisa, fly over the Grand Canyon or cuddle a Koala. The cost of your trip ensures Contiki take care of all your travel arrangements, accommodation, breakfasts and dinners, organised activities, plenty of free time and optional ‘me’ time activities to put your own unique stamp on your travel experience.

Contiki cater to all travellers, whether you want to cram in as many destinations as possible and experience everything or stick in one region for a while for an in depth exploration to really get under the skin of the country, they have the trip for you and many other options in between. Choose a purely water-based adventure with their Sailing, Cruise and Beach holidays, or snowy travels with the Winter holidays and even purely camping accommodation to make the most of your holiday budget but still see and experience all your destination has to offer.

Contiki is a founding partner of TreadRight, a not-for-profit foundation established by The Travel Corporation in 2008 to encourage sustainable tourism within its family of amazing travel brands. The TreadRight Foundation acts as an older, wiser sibling to Contiki, guiding them down a more sustainable path. The TreadRight Foundation supports projects that help the environment, protect and conserve ecosystems, and benefit communities. The foundation, along with The Travel Corporation brands, has donated in excess of US$2 million towards international sustainable tourism projects - a figure that continues to rise.
