Experience a Battlefields tour to remember combining guided tours of the battlefields with a ticket to watch the Journey’s End play. Held for the first time in 2017, the play has fantastic reviews from the Daily Telegraph which reviewed “Enthralling, good-humoured, finally heart-rending...This production is worth a trip to Belgium.” It is the only play written by someone who fought in WW1. R.C. Sheriff was injured at Passchendaele whilst fighting in the great war. First staged in London in 1928, it had Laurence Olivier as the lead, and is set in a dugout for the 4 days leading up to a massive attack. The tension, terror and claustrophobia are played out in front of you. To make the experience more memorable it is performed in the Kruitmagazijn, an ammunition store close to Ypres. As well as the fantastic play, this tour also visits some of the main battlefield sites of WWI with the services of an experienced and knowledgeable battlefields guide who bring the stories to life. It finishes with an en-route visit to Bruges to visit this great medieval town and its maze of cobbled streets and canals. See the official leaflet.
