Day 1 - Arusha - Tarangire National Park (L/D)
After breakfast depart your hotel in Arusha around 9:00am and head towards the magnificent Tarangire National Park stopping en route for a roadside lunch. Tarangire is famous for its giant Baobab trees and wealth of roaming elephants. It also boasts a large variety of bird life, including endemic species. In the evening you will go to Tarangire campsite or Maromboi tented lodge (depending on your package) for a good night's sleep in a natural setting surrounded by acacia woodland and grassland on the northern boundary of Tarangire National Park. Have dinner and overnight.

Day 2 - Tarangire National Park - Serengeti National Park (B/L/D)
Today we set out for the endless open plains and stunning skies of Serengeti National Park - a famous migration corridor and UNESCO World heritage site. After breakfast begin your drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which was created to accommodate the needs of the Maasai people and which tests the idea that humans leading a pastoral lifestyle can coexist with wildlife. You will stop at Naabi hill gate for a picnic lunch while your guide is collecting the permit for entering Serengeti National Park. This park is home to the greatest concentration of large mammals on earth. The land is characterized by vast stretches of open plains, punctuated by kopjes, rock formations that have survived from the Pre-Cambrian period, and more rolling, hilly, mixed savannah woodland, cut by seasonal streams and rivers that nurture huge trees. Late this evening you will arrive to Seronera campsite or Kati Kati tented lodge for a relaxing dinner and overnight in the heart of the Serengeti.
Overnight at Seronera Camp, Seronera Lodge or Similar
Day 3 - Full Day Serengeti National Park (B/L/D)
Today will be the "Serengeti game viewing day". After breakfast venture into the endless open plains of Serengeti National Park wilderness for a full day game drive with picnic lunches brought along with you. You will discover why the fabled Serengeti typifies the dream of “Old Africa”. Large prides of lions laze in the tall grasses; families of elephants feed on acacia bark and trumpet to each other across the plains; while giraffes, gazelles, monkeys, eland and the whole range of African wildlife present themselves in awe-inspiring numbers. If you are there during the spectacular wildebeest migration, you will be more than astonished!
Overnight at Seronera Camp, Seronera Lodge or Similar
Day 4 - Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Crater Rim (B/L/D)
Wake up at 6am for early morning game drives in Serengeti before breakfast. Then after breakfast check out and take your picnic lunch box. Enjoy some last game viewing in Serengeti National Park en route to the world famous Ngorongoro Crater rim. Upon arrival, settle down at your stunning lodge/camp, situated on the rim of the crater. Be prepared for some remarkable views down onto the world’s largest, unflooded and unbroken caldera! Have dinner and overnight.
The caldera of Ngorongoro marks the ancient walls of a collapsed volcano, which was probably once the size of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Nowadays the completely enclosed circular crater is some twelve miles across, with steep walls of over 2,000 feet. We are at an altitude of approximately 7,500 feet above sea level, the highest point on our trip. After our time on the lower plains, the cooler air here is refreshing.
Overnight at Ngorongoro Simba Camp, Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge or Similar
Note: A warm jacket or sweater is highly recommended as the nights can be chilly at high altitudes.
Day 5 - Ngorongoro Crater Floor - Return to Arusha (B/L)
Today we descend 2,000 feet into the giant caldera of this extinct volcano, considered as ‘Africa’s Eden’ and the ‘8th Natural Wonder of the World’. This magnificent natural amphitheater contains the largest concentration of animals in all of Africa. The rich pasture and permanent water on the Crater floor supports a population of some 20,000 to 25,000 large mammals. Prides of lion, black rhino and elephant share this land with the legendary Maasai tribesmen. Because the grasses are short, game is easily spotted and can be approached quite closely. You'll have a fabulous time on the floor of the crater observing wildlife in this ageless World Heritage Site. Uniquely beautiful, you will never see anything like it again.
Take a break for lunch at Ngoitoktok spring before proceeding with some more game viewing and then ascending the crater to drive back to Arusha. We will drop you off at your hotel in Arusha or at the Kilimanjaro Airport for your flight home.
An insider's tip: don't forget your camera - you may never take better wildlife photos anywhere else.
Safari Tents: Please note safari tents tents do not have mosquito nets.
Sleeping Bag: Sleeping bags can be hired for $10USD per day.
