Day 1: UK/Ireland - Night on board

Arrival at your UK/Ireland departure airport ready to check-in for an overnight flight to Bangkok. * Night on board.

* If either your outbound or inbound flights depart in the early hours (before 4:00 a.m.) you must arrive at the airport the night before the indicated departure day.

Day 2: Bangkok

Arrive in the capital of Thailand and transfer to the hotel to check-in after 2:00 p.m. Bangkok is one of the most influential, modern and lively cities in Southeast Asia due to it's economic, political and social development. Make the most of your time in the city by exploring the bustling street markets and sampling some of the exotic street food on and vibrant nightlife on offer. Overnight stay in Bangkok.

Day 3: Bangkok

Breakfast at the hotel. Today, enjoy a fascinating tour of Bangkok's temples. Head to Chinatown to visit magical Wat Traimit temple, which houses the largest solid gold Buddha in the world, almost five meters high and an amazing five and a half tons in weight. Continue to Wat Pho, the largest temple in Bangkok where the famous Reclining Buddha is kept. After admiring the sheer size of the temple, continue to the astounding Wat Benchamabophit or The Marble Temple, a Buddhist sanctuary built entirely from white Italian marble in the 18th century, with elegant and intricate designs and statues that tell stories from Buddhist teachings. Finally, enjoy a visit to a local lapidary factory, for the opportunity to buy locally produced precious stones, jewellery and crafts. Overnight stay in Bangkok.

Day 4: Bangkok - Yangon

Breakfast at the hotel. At the indicated time, transfer to the airport for a flight to Yangon, in Myanmar. Arrive in Yangon and transfer to the hotel. If your arrival time allows, enjoy some free time to explore the city. Yangon is the largest city in Myanmar and the buildings are a fascinating mix of colonial architecture, modern high-rises and beautiful Buddhist shrines. Overnight stay in Yangon.

Day 5: Yangon - Nay Pyi Taw - Bagan

Breakfast at the hotel. Set off towards Bagan and stop en route at Nay Pyi Taw, the modern capital of Myanmar. Be enchanted by the tiered roofs that crown the buildings of the Parliament complex and admire the golden Uppatasanti Pagoda. Continue to Bagan, an ancient city on the banks of the Ayeyarwady River. Arrive, and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay in Bagan.

Day 6: Bagan

Breakfast at the hotel. Today, tour the sights of other-worldly Bagan. Visit the colourful local market, Shwezigon Pagoda, the glory of Bagan, Htilominlo Temple and Nathtaukkyaung Monastery, which is built from traditional teak wood. Also discover Ananda Temple and Gubyaukgyi Temple, known for its mural paintings. End the tour at Dhamayangyi Temple, the biggest in Bagan. Finally, enjoy the sunset from Sunset Hill. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay in Bagan.

Day 7: Bagan - Mandalay

Breakfast at the hotel. Today, drive to Mount Popa - an extinct volcano which is known as “Home of the Spirits”. From here, you can observe everyday life in rural Myanmar. Climb the 777 steps to reach the cliff temple to enjoy the landscapes and soak up the panoramic view from the extinct volcano across the vast plains of Bagan. Afterwards, continue to Mandalay, the former royal capital, full of majestic palaces and temples. Transfer to the hotel and overnight stay in Mandalay.

Day 8: Mandalay

Breakfast at the hotel. Today, take a boat excursion to Mingun, along the Ayeyarwaddy River. During the cruise, enjoy the fascinating landscapes of the river as well as the daily life of the people living along the Ayeyarwaddy. On arrival, visit Mingun Pagoda, with its huge 90-tonne bell. Return to Mandalay to explore local handicraft workshops, the Kuthodaw Pagoda and Golden Palace Monastery. Finally, watch the sunset from the top of Mandalay Hill, where the beauty of Mandalay City and the Shan Plateau can be admired in its full glory. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay in Mandalay.

Day 9: Mandalay - Inle Lake

Breakfast at the hotel. Set off to the Inle Lake region, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Enjoy the landscapes along the way before arriving at the township of Nyaung Shwe. Rest of the day is at your leisure to explore the beautiful natural environment and relax at your own pace. Overnight stay in Nyaung Shwe.

Day 10: Inle Lake

Breakfast at the hotel. Today, enjoy a fascinating boat excursion on Inle Lake and visit the floating morning market, to see the villagers who live on the lake doing their shopping. Continue to In Dein village and after a walk around the village, passing a local school, take the covered stairway to the beautiful Alaung Sitthou area where ancient stupas are partly covered by vegetation. From here you can enjoy fantastic views across the lake. Later visit Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda and a Cheroot Factory in Nampan village, another floating village on Inle Lake. Return to the hotel and overnight stay in Nyaung Shwe.

Day 11: Inle Lake - Yangon

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Heho airport for a flight back to Yangon. On arrival, enjoy a city tour and visit the colonial area for an insight into the history of this sprawling metropolis before strolling down Pansodan Street. Walk up to the Pansodan Bridge and explore the city centre. Finally, visit the awe-inspiring Shwedagon Pagoda, known as the Golden Pagoda, a true wonder of the world. Overnight stay in Yangon.

Day 12: Yangon - Bangkok

After breakfast at the hotel, it's time to bid goodbye to beautiful Myanmar. At the indicated time, transfer to the airport for a flight back to Bangkok. Arrive in Bangkok, transfer to the hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure, indulging in the local cuisine and soaking up the atmosphere of Bangkok's vibrant neighbourhoods. Overnight stay in Bangkok.

Day 13: Bangkok

Breakfast at the hotel. Spend the day at your leisure, exploring the diverse neighbourhoods, sampling delicious street food at the bustling markets and perhaps visiting the many ornate temples the city has to offer. We recommend discovering the historic city of Ayutthaya for an insight into Thailand's fascinating history.* Overnight stay in Bangkok.

* Optional Ancient Ayutthaya Excursion: Discover Ayutthaya, the once-powerful capital of the ancient kingdom of Siam, situated only an hours drive away from Bangkok. Visit the Charki dynasty's Summer Palace and sightsee amongst the ancient ruins. Afterwards, enjoy a cruise on the Chao Phraya River to take in the idyllic scenery and learn about life on the river. Day 14: Bangkok - UK/Ireland
