Day 1: UK to Vancouver

Arrive in Vancouver and transfer to your hotel.  Evening at leisure.

Day 2:  Vancouver

Upon checkout from your hotel, enjoy a morning tour of the best of Vancouver. Iconic sights include historic Gastown and Chinatown, vibrant Granville Island and its public market, and Stanley Park’s natural splendour. After taking in a 360 degree view of Vancouver at the Vancouver Lookout, you will arrive at Canada Place, Vancouver’s cruise terminal where you board your ship. Overnight on Holland America’s MS Koningsdam. (Lunch, Dinner)

Day 3: Vancouver to Juneau

Sail the iconic Inside Passage, shaped by the staggering force of massive glaciers millions of years ago, boasting wildlife-filled fjords and lush island scenery. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 4: Juneau to Skagway

Located at the foot of grand mountain peaks on the Gastineau Channel, the town of Juneau has the massive Mendenhall Glacier and the immense Juneau Icefields at its back door. Juneau is the place to let your imagination run wild. Explore the lush Tongass National Forest, visit the rustic shops in town, set out and whale watch, flightsee, hike, kayak, raft or fish. Due to the long daylight hours, there’s plenty of time for your perfect Juneau adventure. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 5: Skagway

This gold rush era town beckons you to take a stroll into the past. Take your time and poke into every little store from the Trail Bench to Lynch & Kennedy’s Dry Goods. The Red Onion Saloon, with its honky tonk piano and costumed barmaids, is a treasure trove of memorabilia featuring pictures of Klondike Kate, Peahull Annie and other vintage characters. To complete the picture of those rip-roaring days, visit the nostalgic Trail of ‘98 Museum. The Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park boasts restored buildings and wooden boardwalks. Day 6: Skagway to Ketchikan

As Biosphere Reserve and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Glacier Bay National Park protects a unique ecosystem of plants and animals living in concert with an everchanging glacial landscape. Bring out the camera and listen for the thunderous sound of a monumental chunk of ice that has split from a glacier as it crashes into the sea. The impact shoots water hundreds of feet into the air. Glacier Bay has more actively calving tidewater glaciers than anyplace else in the world. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 7: Ketchikan
Built out over the water and climbing weathered stairways, Ketchikan clings to the shores of Tongass Narrows and drapes the mountains with a cheerful air. Take time to explore Creek Street, the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bight State Park and Saxman Village, Ketchikan’s main attractions. Deep water fjords created by retreating glaciers has left behind stunning granite cliffs towering thousands of feet above the sea and countless waterfalls cascading into placid waters. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 8: Ketchikan to Vancouver

Day 9: Vancouver

After breakfast we disembark and transfer to our hotel.  This afternoon is yours to explore the vibrant city of Vancouver. (Breakfast)

Day 10: Vancouver

Enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of Vancouver’s spectacular North Shore. Travel across the Lions Gate Bridge and into the Coast Mountains. Experience the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Treetops Adventure, discovering the coastal temperate rainforest and British Columbia’s Indigenous heritage. Next, visit Grouse Mountain with its resident grizzly bears, ride a cable car to take in breathtaking views of the city, ocean, and surrounding mountains.

Day 11: Vancouver

Day 12: Vancouver to Kamloops 

Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. On today’s journey you will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains, to the desert-like environment of the BC interior. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer travels along the shores of Kamloops Lake into Kamloops. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 13: Kamloops to Jasper 

Your journey continues aboard the Rocky Mountaineer ® north and east to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Once again you will be surrounded by dramatic scenery as you follow the banks of the North Thompson River through the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains, climbing ever nearer to the high peaks of the Continental Divide. Today’s highlights include Mount Robson, at 3,954 metres (12,972 feet) the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, Pyramid Falls, and the climb over the Yellowhead Pass into Jasper National Park. Your rail journey ends this evening on arrival in the resort town of Jasper. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 14: Jasper

Jasper National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the Canadian Rockies’ largest national park. Today you will enjoy a scenic full-day tour of some of the park’s natural attractions and rugged peaks, and perhaps catch a glimpse of the wildlife that calls this region home. Highlights include lunch and a lake cruise at historic Maligne Lake.  Explore Canada’s indigenous history, foods and culture, on this exclusive interpretive program on the Indigenous groups of the Jasper area.  Join us for this 90 minute interpretive program: step into the past, learn traditions, customs and relationship to beautiful turquoise waters of Chaba Imne, now Maligne Lake.  Relax by the campfire as local indigenous interpreters regale you with storytelling, drumming and singing.  Walk with expert geology and  geography guides into Maligne Canyon to view the rock formations.  We recommended to dress in layers, and wear comfortable walking shoes. (Lunch)

Day 15: Jasper to Banff

Travel to Banff via one of the most scenic highways in the world, the Icefields Parkway. Among the highlights are Bow Lake, the Columbia Icefield, Glacier Skywalk and Athabasca Falls. The Columbia Icefield is one of the largest accumulations of ice south of the Arctic Circle and one of the most accessible icefields in North America. Here you will ride on an Ice Explorer to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier to learn more about its geological features. Lunch is included at the Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre. Afterwards, a brief stop will be made at Bow Lake before arriving in Banff this afternoon. (Lunch)

Day 16: Banff to Lake Louise
See Yoho National Park with its Spiral Tunnels, Emerald Lake and a natural rock bridge before arriving at Lake Louise.
A half-day tour takes you into Yoho National Park to view some of its natural wonders. Among the attractions are the Spiral Tunnels, Emerald Lake and a natural rock bridge spanning the Kicking Horse River. The tour ends in Lake Louise where the remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure to enjoy this magnificent location. Overnight in Lake Louise. Please note: While arrival at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise will be approximately 1:00 p.m., scheduled check-in time is not until 4:00 p.m. In the event that your room is not ready, your luggage will be stored and you are free to enjoy the amenities of the hotel.

Day 17: Lake Louise  to Calgary

Today you will enjoy a full-day tour concluding in Calgary. Begin the morning with a sightseeing tour of Banff. Among the points of interest are Bow Falls, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos. Banff Gondola included. Continue on to Kananaskis for the highlight of today’s adventure, a 12-minute Panoramic Helicopter Tour over the remarkable landscape of the Rockies. Your tour ends on arrival in Calgary late this afternoon. Overnight in Calgary.

Day 18: Calgary to UK

We fly from Calgary back to the UK.
