Our fascinating escorted tour will show you the highlights of three beautiful Baltic capital cities, Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn. On our journey, we will also discover more of this region, from the coastal resort of Parnu to impressive buildings, including Rundale Palace.
The Holiday Inn is located a short walk from Vilnius’ Old Town, within walking distance of many attractions, such as St Anne’s Church.
Our guided walking tour will show us some of Tallinn’s landmarks, including Toompea Castle and the 19th century cathedral, before we join the coach to see further outside of the city, including St Brigittes monastery. You will have some free time back in Tallinn this afternoon, before our final overnight stay.
We travel through the forest scenery of the Gauja National Park, calling at the picturesque town of Sigulda. Our next stop will be the Turaida Museum Reserve, an interesting historical and archeological site, home to one of the region’s oldest wooden churches. We will also call at the popular harbour city of Parnu, known for its 19th century wooden villas and neoclassical spa buildings.
Enjoy our introductory walking tour of Riga, the colourful capital of Latvia. See some of the top sights in this medieval Hanseatic town, such as St Peter’s Church, Riga Castle and the cathedral. This afternoon is at your leisure and we recommend you explore the lively central market to try some of the local produce.
We call at Siauliai to see the Hill of Crosses, which since the early 19th century has been a place of prayer and national pilgrimage in Lithuania. The site is strewn with more than 100,000 crosses, crucifixes, statues, effigies and rosaries which have been left over the years. Continuing into Latvia, we visit Rundale Palace, one of the most magnificent examples of Baroque architecture in the Baltic States, with an impressive Golden Hall. Enjoy time here to explore the palace’s ornately decorated rooms and its exquisitely cared for gardens.
Join our tour guide for an orientation walking tour of the city. We will take in the wonderful architecture and visit the Old Town, which is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. As we walk along the beautiful narrow streets, we’ll see landmarks including St Anna’s Church, Vilnius Cathedral, the Parliament and President’s Palace.
