Starting from the small nearby village of Succoth you'll walk along the valley between Glen Loin and Argyll Forest Park to Coiregrogain. From there we skirt the hills of A' Chrois and Creag Tharsuinn before walking through the astounding valley of Beinn Narnain and Ben Arthur along the Allt a' Bhalachain which bring you back into Succoth.
Walk between Tarbet and the next village of Arrochar. The villages are on either side of a isthmus with one on the shore of Loch Lomond and the other on the shore of Loch Long, yet only separated by just over a mile. This was the place where in 1263 the Vikings pulled 60 ships overland to take them from Loch Long to Loch Lomond in order to raid further inland and you can learn about this important patch of land's history during the walk. Be sure to take in the view of Ben Arthur along the route.
Ben Arthur, also known as The Cobbler, is said to be one of the finest peaks in the Southern Highlands, with views stretching for many miles around. The peak itself is very recognisable too, with three separate peaks making the mountain recognisable for miles around.
Stay on the shores of legendary Loch Lomond in the village of Tarbet surrounded by forests and magnificent mountains.
The hotel is less than a five minute walk from Tarbet Pier from where you can take a cruise over the loch to Rowardennan during which you can enjoy insurmountable views of Ben Lomond. Tarbet has a number of quaint tearooms which are a great place to enjoy a relaxing cup of tea while enjoying views over the loch.
Heading further out you can experience the stunning scenery of the Duke’s Pass on the other side of the national park, on the drive over you will have the chance to see the southern end of Loch Lomond and the many islands that dot its surface. From Tarbet it is possible to take a day trip out to the historic city of Stirling which for many years was Scotland’s capital and one of its most important cities. Glasgow is less than an hour away by car and has a great range of architecture harking back to its glory days as a Victorian industrial city.
In the hotel’s restaurant you can enjoy fabulous sights over the surrounding countryside while eating tasty breakfast and evening meals daily. Sit down in the bar during the evening to take in great entertainment and enjoy the views over the loch from some of the hotel’s rooms.
