Watch as volunteer workers glue petals and blossoms over their float's specially built undercarriage made of steel and chicken wire, meticulously placing the flowers and other natural materials over every visible inch. Then you're off to enjoy your backstage pass to Paramount Pictures Studios, among the world's busiest motion picture and television studios - and the only one still making pictures in Beverly Hills. Climb aboard your golf cart and ride through back lot streets, sound stages, sets, and craft shops to see what goes on behind the scenes of film and TV productions. We'll ring in the New Year with friendships old and new, a champagne toast, and a memorable rendition of Auld Lang Syne!
Day 4: 1st Rose Parade® & 106th Rose Bowl Game® option
Our Celebration of Roses Event took root from a uniquely American tradition more than a century old; members of a distinguished hunt club in Pasadena would invite their former neighbors from the East Coast to a New Year's holiday that included a parade of flower-decked carriages and competitive games under the warm California sun. The festival bloomed as the years went by, and today the Tournament of Roses® has become synonymous with the imaginatively decorated floats of the Rose Parade® floats - as well as the annual Rose Bowl Game®. Take in the marching bands from across the country, spirited equestrians and their mounts, and the creative floral floats from premier Grandstand seating on the first turn of the Parade route - the same view that the major television networks have! Then, football fans who wish to be in the middle of the action of the 106th Rose Bowl Game® may purchase optional tickets to the game to see "the granddaddy of them all" in reserved seats (for an additional charge; see pricing notes for details). If you're not going to the Rose Bowl football game, enjoy New Year's Day lunch and a tour at one of Southern California's cultural and botanical highlights - The Huntington, home to acres of spectacular gardens, a library, and a fine art collection. Tonight, our farewell dinner at Fairmont Miramar promises to be a magical evening as strolling magicians wow you with illusionist tricks, tableside!
Day 5: Journey Home
Event ends: Los Angeles. Fly home anytime; a transfer from Fairmont Miramar to Los Angeles International Airport is included; allow two hours for flight check-in.
