We are delighted to invite you to join us in celebrating Titan’s 40th anniversary on MS Serenade 1, our exclusively chartered river vessel. Our Managing Director will personally welcome you aboard at a cocktail reception, the first of many celebrations as we cruise from Amsterdam to Mainz. Spend your days soaking up European history and stunning scenery, visiting the magnificent Cologne Cathedral and revered Deinhard Wine Cellar in Rüdesheim; and spend your evenings on board, enjoying a combination of dinners and a special gala event, plus a mix of live music including the decade which saw Titan’s rise - the ‘70s. You also have the opportunity to extend your holiday on reaching Mainz, with a two-night stay in Heidelberg, a beautiful city with plenty of intrigue.
- River Cruise
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from your home, for your journey to London Heathrow Airport and a direct, scheduled British Airways flight to Amsterdam. On arrival, we transfer to the port to embark MS Serenade 1 (4T). Afternoon tea will be served on arrival, and a welcome cocktail reception will be hosted by Titan’s Managing Director, Andy Squirrell, before dinner this evening. A live band will play us into the night with a variety of classics.
Enjoy a free morning in the historically rich city of Nijmegen. This beautiful city has survived centuries of war with some wonderful landmarks interspersed with fine examples of post-World War II regeneration. Valkhof is considered by some as the most interesting spot in the Netherlands, shaped by many eras of Western European history. The Romans settled here for 400 years, numerous emperors of the Holy Roman Empire were born here, and Emperor Frederik I (Barbarossa) introduced falconry as an exclusive pastime in the forecourt of his magnificent fortress, now in ruins in Valkhof Park. Those who share the Dutch love for bikes may like to visit the Nationaal Fietsmuseum Velorama, devoted to old wooden contraptions, penny farthings and hand-propelled bikes. Return to the ship for lunch, as our voyage to Cologne begins, and spend the afternoon watching the world go by. Enjoy a special 40th anniversary gala event, with live music keeping the party alive after dinner.
The fascinating city of Cologne has a magnificent Gothic centrepiece - the iconic Kölner Dom - considered Germany’s most popular tourist attraction for both its striking beauty and its religious importance. Our day in Cologne begins with a morning coach tour and walk through the old city, which includes the cathedral and the treasury within, containing the intricately-decorated golden shrine of the Magi (the biblical Three Wise Men). You then have time to discover a vast array of attractions at your leisure including Roman remains, the Chocolate Museum, the poignant NS Documentation Centre, and the House of Fragrances. Return to the ship this evening for dinner and live music in keeping with our ‘70s theme, as we sail on.
On the confluence of the Rhine and the Moselle rivers sits Koblenz. We take a tour of the city founded by Romans and best known for its cosy wine taverns and historical centre. Befitting celebrations for a 40th anniversary, we visit the museum of the Deinhard Wine Cellar, one of the first vintners of sparkling wines in Germany. Discover how the wines have developed since the company’s creation in 1794, creating revered Rieslings including Sekt Deinhard Lila, one of the finest premium sparkling wines available today. We return to the ship for lunch and enjoy scenes of the beautiful Rhine Gorge and the fabled Lorelei Rock, where an enchanting water nymph is said to have lured fishermen with her song. We dock in Rüdesheim early this evening with dinner included and time to relax with our onboard band.
We sail early this morning for Mainz and disembark. If flight schedules allow there may be some leisure time in the city of Mainz, before transferring to Frankfurt Airport for a direct, scheduled British Airways flight to London Heathrow. On arrival you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
