Take a break in Cambridgeshire to discover the important roles this county has played in shaping the country’s story, whether it’s through the minds of pioneering Cambridge University alumni or protecting our skies during the Battle of Britain. Our tour takes you through the old, college bound streets of Cambridge, to the classic aircraft-filled hangars of the Imperial War Museum Duxford, and into the countryside with a day at Wimpole, an impressive mansion in the heart of vast parks and farmland.

Titan‘s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to The Cambridge Belfry (4T). We aim for you to arrive at the hotel between 4pm and 5pm, where you will be welcomed with tea and coffee. The remainder of the day is free to settle in before dinner is served this evening.
Cambridge and education have been muttered in the same sentence since the first college was founded in 1209. A total of 31 institutions now stand, and have nurtured the great minds of Charles Darwin, Alan Turing, Sir David Attenborough and Stephen Hawking, amongst numerous others. Our walking tour of this inspiring city takes us past many of the colleges including Corpus Christi and King‘s; and alongside Great St Mary‘s Church (the university church) and Senate House, used for graduation ceremonies. We also pause at the Cavendish Laboratory, where Nobel Prize winners conducted Physics experiments, and the historic Eagle Pub. Decorated with graffiti by British and American WWII pilots, it became a popular place for 20th century scientists including Crick and Watson, who announced the discovery of DNA here.
Duxford is the site of one of the earliest Royal Air Force stations, established in 1917 to train Royal Flying Corps air crew. The reputation of RAF Duxford‘s No 19 Squadron awarded them the honour of flying the first Supermarine Spitfires in service in 1938, two years before fighting in the Battle of Britain. The base continued to operate through World War II to 1961, and today holds an outstanding exhibition dedicated to the thousands of men and women who lived and worked here, with photos and personal letters. The stars of the collection are hundreds of aircraft including World War II classics such as the Spitfire, Lancaster and Tiger Moth.
Today we will visit the grandest working estate in Cambridgeshire - National Trust-owned Wimpole. In 1938, the 2,500-acre estate was purchased by Captain George and Mrs Elsie Bambridge, daughter of Rudyard Kipling, who spent 40 years decorating and furnishing the house with pieces that were either once at Wimpole or had strong connections to the estate or its owners through the previous 300 years. Stand in the drawing room which once received Queen Victoria, view a library containing books that belonged to Rudyard Kipling and peek at life ‘below stairs‘ in the Housekeeper‘s Room, before exploring the extensive park and gardens with beautiful views, and meeting rare breeds of cattle, sheep, pigs and shire horses at the Home Farm.
Following breakfast, you‘ll be collected at 10am by your Titan vehicle for the journey home.
