Forget the hype of Game of Thrones, Croatia is all that and more. From spending days horizontal on a sun-soaked deck, diving into translucent water and exploring the cobbled streets of ancient towns, to eating alllll the seafood, peka (??) and pasta you can handle before heading out to some of the coolest clubs in the Adriatic. Trust us, we know Croatia and we do it right.
Today, we’ll meet in Split – then it’s off the mooring line and on to Stari Grad on the northern side of Hvar island. A UNESCO World Heritage-listed town, Stari Grad is certainly pleasing on the eye! Tonight, you have the option to clink glasses and get to know the gang over a BBQ dinner aboard the boat.
This morning we’ll set a course for Hvar, one of Croatia’s glittering gems AND playground to the likes of Tom Cruise, Ellen DeGeneres and Prince Harry (just to name a few). Later, we’ll check out the famous fortress, cathedral and square before we go to town on an included night out. Our drink recommendation? Try a mist-mash (it involves red wine and Fanta. Best not ask).
Next up today: Bol. Need more beach in your life? You’ve come to the right place! If you’ve got itchy feet, you’re in luck, too. You’ve got a free day to do as you please, so dust off that camera and go for a wander. All of those pretty stone houses and brightly coloured flowers won’t take photos of themselves, now, will they? If you fancy it, you can even opt in for a wine tasting session. Raised pinkies at the ready!
Time to trim the sails again and set a course for the Makarska Riviera, one of the best unsung holiday spots in Europe. The day’s all yours to stroll the pretty promenade, indulge in some adventurous activities (think: hiking and biking), or simply lounge about on the pebbly beach. You do you.
Did you pack your sense of adventure? Good. We're moving on to Korcula, where we'll be hitting the cobblestone alleys on a walking tour. Later on, there's plenty of time to climb your way to the top of an old-school cathedral tower to savour a colourful cocktail. Take note: the ladder to the top of Massimo's cocktail bar is seriously steep, so watch your step!
With more natural beauty and cool abandoned stone buildings than you can shake a sextant at, Mljet is the perfect place to chill out. Get a dose of serenity on an optional National Park visit and boat it over to St Mary Island to visit the resident donkeys, then round off the day with an optional captain’s dinner with the gang.
Check out the Mljet sunrise, then it’s off to the most famous walled city in Europe: Dubrovnik. Today’s optionals will knock your socks off! Try sea kayaking around the city walls, or step out on a Game of Thrones tour.
Once you've finished sending off your fellow shipmates, come talk to us about another eight days sailing the Croatian islands.
