Experience the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival in the elegant Peak District town of Buxton at the beautiful Buxton Opera House. This Victorian operatic duo wrote 14 operas, such as The Mikado, H.M.S. Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance and Iolanthe. These performances sit somewhere between an opera and a musical and are referred to as operettas or ‘light operas’. The International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival was founded in 1994 to celebrate these fantastic works. You will stay for four nights at the 3-star Old Hall Hotel in Buxton.
