Join us this June for a relaxing and nostalgic break away! Take the chance to travel behind the historic 92. Squadron. Named after the famous Spitfire squadron based at Biggin Hill during the Battle of Britain in 1940, this Bulleid 'Battle of Britain' class pacific locomotive will be running on the heritage Nene Valley Railway taking us back to the heyday of the golden age of steam. On this break we also enjoy a picturesque cruise on Rutland Water and visit the lovely university city of Cambridge with its wealth of culture and history.
We’ll stay at a well-appointed 3 or 4-star hotel conveniently located for our excursions. The comfortable rooms are en suite and other facilities include a bar and restaurant.

From a morning pickup in your local area we travel by coach to our hotel, arriving in time for dinner and the first of two nights’ stay.
Following breakfast at the hotel, we head to Wansford where we board our train behind the magnificent locomotive 92. Squadron for a picturesque round trip journey on the Nene Valley Railway. With a journey time of approximately 70 minutes, we’ll travel along the beautiful Nene Valley, through a picturesque landscape of water meadows, arable farmland and a country park. Afterwards, we travel by coach to Rutland Water – a large, horseshoe-shaped reservoir set within 3,000 acres of beautiful English countryside on the borders of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. Here we enjoy a relaxing cruise on the Rutland Belle. Later, we return to the hotel where we enjoy dinner together.
Please note: Friday itinerary order is subject to change.
After checking out of the hotel we board the coach and head for home, stopping en-route in Cambridge where we have free time to explore at leisure. This fascinating university city is full of beautiful architecture, leafy green meadows and majestic college buildings, the most famous being King’s College Chapel on the banks of the River Cam.
