We head to historic York, where we can wander the narrow cobbled streets known as the Shambles or spend some time in the city’s beautiful Norman Minster, which boasts some of the finest stained-glass windows in the world. Alternatively, why not take a stroll around the city walls or stop for tea at the famous Betty’s tea rooms. Back at the hotel, we enjoy a candlelit dinner followed by a game of bingo and a festive quiz.
