With stylish resort towns, beautiful beaches, old-fashioned charm and miles of unspoilt coastline, the Isle of Wight is the perfect place to enjoy a few celebratory days away, in the run-up to Christmas. A popular seaside destination since Queen Victoria chose to spend her family holidays here in the 19th century, the island is host to several treasured spots, many of which we visit on this spectacularly scenic festive break.
We’ll stay at one of two well-appointed hotels on the Isle of Wight. The hotels offer en-suite rooms with tea and coffee-making facilities as well as a pleasant bar and restaurant.
The family-run Medehamstede Hotel is situated in the coastal town of Shanklin. Set within spacious, well-kept gardens, the Victorian building has plenty of character. (2-star rating)
The welcoming Burlington Hotel is situated near the seafront in the resort of Sandown. This hotel features a bar, restaurant, games room and garden. (2-star rating)
Please note: the Burlington Hotel has no lift but has some ground-floor rooms.
