Rio de Janeiro was the capital of Brazil until 1960. Often called “Cidade Maravilhosa” (The Marvellous City) Rio de Janeiro is world renowned for its breath-taking landscapes and location, nestled between lush, green mountains and crystal-clear seas. Rio is one of the most culturally and economically prominent cities in Brazil and features some of the country’s most famous tourist attractions such as Sugarloaf Mountain (Pão de Acúcar), Christ the Redeemer statue (Corcovado), and the iconic beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema. The city is full of energy and rhythm, and the locals of Rio, ‘Cariocas’, are known for their carefree spirit and charm.
Our hotel is located in front of Copacabana beach and has a bar and the restaurant. Overnight Rio de Janeiro
After breakfast we will leave the hotel in direction to the Cosme Velho neighborhood where we will board the train which will take us up the beautiful mountainside before arriving at the feet of Christ the Redeemer, one of the seven “New Wonders of the World”, located 700 meters above sea level. We will enjoy the most famous panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro, also known as the “Marvelous City”. From here we will drive to Santa Teresa, a traditional neighborhood located high upon the hills of the city, overlooking downtown and Guanabara Bay. Home to several Twentieth century mansions, cultural houses, galleries and gourmet restaurants, Santa Teresa’s charming cobbled streets are also a haven for local artists and intellectuals. In the afternoon we will return to the hotel and the rest of the evening is free.

We will take a glass cable-car to the first point at Urca Hill where we can enjoy spectacular views of the entire bay and its surrounding islands. Then we will take a second cable car to the top of Sugarloaf which rises 395 meters above sea level and offers a 360-degree view of the entire city including Botafogo and Copacabana Beaches, Corcovado Mountain and downtown of Rio de Janeiro.
