A fabulous walking holiday with a foodie twist! Come join us as we explore Umbria, a region renowned for its medieval hill top towns, dense forests and famous cuisine (in particular its prized truffles and wine). We can look forward to a range of foodie themed activities plus 4 included walks (one of which is a truffle hunting walk) that showcases the best of this beautiful region – Buon Appetito! Grade: Easy to Medium
Walking and gastronomy are the perfect partners and make for an ideal combination for a memorable and active holiday. We can look forward to exploring the local area on four included walks and each evening we can dine in the hotel’s gourmet restaurant “La Prepositura” where we savour 4 courses showcasing the best of Italian cuisine, each accompanied by a different red or white wine, both local and national to ensure we get the true taste of Italy!
After checking into our hotel enjoy a welcome drink of prosecco accompanied by traditional Italian bruschetta with the hotel’s homemade Extra Virgin Olive Oil where we can get to know our fellow travellers.
Today we can enjoy a guided tour of the beautiful, medieval town of Trevi where we learn more about its long and fascinating history. After, we don our aprons and take part in a 2 hour cooking class where we will learn to make traditional Italian meals, which we can tuck into for our lunch with wine.
Today is our first walk where we begin in Monte Subasio and continue along the beautiful Roman aqueduct of Spello, where we pause for lunch (not included). We continue on through gentle woodland trails to the small village of Pale to finish.
A well-earned day at leisure why not explore Trevi’s local culture, surrounding countryside and quaint craft shops.
Our second walk starts in the centre of Montefalco, where we visit a winery for some wine tasting sessions plus the opportunity to savour local produce such as prosciutto, cheese and bruschetta. From here we walk through vineyards and rolling countryside until we reach Scacciadiavoli Cantina.
Our third walk is a wonderful guided walk along the medieval aqueduct to the Castle at Campello sul Clitunno. This small town is the source of the Clitunno River and is also renowned for its olive oil production – so it could be wonderful place to pick up some souvenirs.
Our fourth and final walk has wonderful foodie twist! We can look forward to truffle hunting in the Umbrian woodland in the company of a local expert and their specialist truffle hunting dogs. After, we enjoy a light lunch and truffle tasting at a local farm shop where perhaps we can sample our finds!
