Feel inspired... as you and your family stand on the top deck of ms Emerald with Provençal landscapes before you… in Paris, where the streets are paved in history… on a scavenger hunt through Musée du Louvre… along the cobblestone streets of medieval Viviers… together. The best way to experience French joie de vivre is to do what the locals do... pedal past landmark Parisian sites on a bicycle ride... take a fast train to Lyon... board a boat for a River Rhône cruise... learn to cook like a gourmet chef at a culinary school... discover the art of making chocolat... have lunch at a private ranch in Provence with French cowboys... paint like van Gogh in Arles (using chocolate instead of oils!)... walk on a triple-decker Roman bridge in Avignon... play pétanque in Viviers...

Following lunch, enjoy some free time to pursue what interests you most. This morning your riverboat takes you to the town of Tournon-sur-Rhône for fun family discoveries ashore including an orientation tour of this ancient town on the River Rhône; a cooking class at Scook, the cooking school of Anne Sophie Pic, located next door to the Michelin-awarded restaurant Maison Pic; and a demonstration in the art of making chocolat at Valrhona Cité du Chocolat. The rest of the afternoon and evening are spent cruising the Rhône, bound for Arles in Provence.

Location: Arles, France

After arriving in Arles this morning, get a change of scenery on a drive into the Camargue for a taste of France’s "Wild West." This vast marshy delta has been home to free-roaming black bulls since Roman times; today the bulls are looked after by French gardians (cowboys), saddled up on white Camargue horses. You’ll see them up close at a private ranch, called a manade, and a hayride into the fields to see bulls, mares and foals. Enjoy a Provençal lunch, gypsy music and a daring show in which players attempt to retrieve paper tokens from a bull’s horns. Later today you'll return to medieval Arles for a walking tour that brings alive many of the places captured in brilliant strokes of color by one of its most famous residents, artist Vincent van Gogh – then create some tasty art of your own based on lovely French landscapes with a hands-on chocolate painting experience, This evening, an onboard performance by an accordionist precedes dinner.

Location: Avignon, France

Everyone dreams at one time or another of living in a palace... and today's France family river cruise does just that when your family visits an extravagant grand palace with four mighty towers... On a guided tour of 12th-century Palais des Papes in Avignon, once a “renegade” papal palace (built in opposition to Rome), your imagination takes flight as you explore one of Europe's largest medieval Gothic buildings. Or, if you wish, instead of visiting Palais des Papes you can join us for a bicycle ride in Avignon this morning. You'll have some time this afternoon to discover Avignon as you please. Then everyone meets up to walk across the famed Pont du Gard, and enjoy some refreshments; this three-level, 164-ft.-high “bridge” was built by the Romans to carry fresh water over the Gardon River nearly 2,000 years ago!

This morning brings adventure to your France family river cruise with a walking tour of medieval Viviers, where you’ll wind your way up through narrow, cobbled streets, curious passageways and doorways in shades of blue and green... leading up to the petite 12th-century Cathédrale Saint-Vincent. Next, try your hand at a game of pétanque, played by tossing a small metal boule about the size of an orange. Return to the riverboat for lunch (a barbecue on the Sun Deck, weather permitting) and an afternoon and evening spent cruising. Join us this evening for a farewell reception and dinner.

5* Grand adventure with our 10 year old granddaughter in France
This is our fourth Bridges trip. Every expectation we had was exceeded. The time in Paris (magical), the spacious and elegant quarters on the Swiss Emerald, the gourmet food to delight all palettes, and the small and large towns along the Rhone where all generations learned about history and culture in such invitational ways -- so impressive. Bastille Day celebration with the Eiffel Tower our next door neighbor! -- one of the highlights of our traveling life. The trip to the Carmague -- so typical of Tauck -- a place we never would have discovered on our own. As we enjoyed the delights of the ranch, the gracious hospitality and the farm-to-table lunch, we felt like family not tourists

5* An Amazing Experience on the Family Rhone River Cruise
Courtney was my 4th grandchild to take on a trip, but it was my first Tauck experience. I can't stop talking about it and cannot wait to do another one. Everything was simply first class, stress-free, fun for all ages, and yet educational. We awakened each day excited about our next adventure with our new friends and amazing tour leaders. It is impossible to note just one memorable moment on this exceptional trip. Courtney's favorite moments were going to the top of the Eiffel Tower and playing Petanque with her new friends. My most memorable moments were walking through the Pont du Gard Aqueduct and watching Courtney taste and enjoy everything on the "Fear Factor" buffet.

4* Tauck Bridges Experience with our Granddaughter
The Bon Voyage! France Family River Cruise (July 2015) was fantastic. Our 11 year old granddaughter will treasure her memories of the trip for many years to come. The accommodations and food were excellent. The staff, ship's crew, and land guides were very friendly, well informed, often funny and always helpful. It is impossible to choose a most memorable moment. There were so many of them. To cite just two: The welcome dinner and fireworks display on Bastille Day from the 10th floor balconies of the Pullman Hotel was marvelous. And, the friendships and fun that our granddaughter enjoyed with many other children on board the Swiss Emerald was heartwarming

4* Bon Voyage Family France River Cruise
My wife and I took our 2 oldest granddaughters with us for our first vacation with just the 4 of us. This was a Christmas gift that the girls had to wait 8 months to cash in on. It was well worth the wait. The trip was first class all around. Wonderful staff and tour directors. Beautiful and comfortable accommodations and great food. We enjoyed it. The Pont Du Gard, the Louvre, the Camargue and the many Roman ruins were all first time wonders for us but the most memorable portion of the trip was having the opportunity to get to know our granddaughters even better than thought that we did. Seeing these new wonders thru their eyes was unforgetable. The time together is what I will remember.

5* Sharing a Family Legacy
My wife and I are Bridges enthusiasts, as well as frequent visitors to France. Bon Voyage was an ideal way for our two granddaughters 10 and 12 to experience the country we and our daughters, their mothers, know so well. Bridges programs, including this one are beautifully balanced to meet the interests of both kids and grandparents with flair. Our local guide in Vienna sang Ave Maria exquisitely in a chapel at the top of the town. The Tauck directors offered touching gestures of kindness. The wine and cheese tasting in Valence was tops. You visit a ranch in the Camargue in Provence and a "bull-run" that few visitors would otherwise ever get to see.

5* Paris, Lyon, & the south of France with
We had a wonderful time! Everything was wonderful - the staff was fantastic! The Captain and crew were amazing. My family considers this one of our best trips ever! The ranch in Arles - by far one of the best days! But it was all fantastic!

5* Great trip
Took our 10 year old granddaughter on this trip. It was fantastic. The tours were kid appropriate for the most part. The on board activities on the ship were wonderful! We all had a wonderful time. The kids activities were great! Also loved the visit to Camargue Ranch and to the aquaduct.

4* Excellent Family Trip
My wife and I took our three daughters (ages 21, 17 and 13) on the trip. As there was an age spread in the girls, we had a concern that there would not be teenagers or young adults of the same age on the trip. Much to our pleasant surprise, there was a diversity of ages- from children as young as 5 or 6 to college age. The entire trip. I did not have enough room above to say that the tour guides were incredibly good. The best Tauck tour guides ever.
